Washington Husky quarterback commit continues scratch things off of his bucket list. He told On3 that making it to the Elite 11 Finals was a “lifelong goal”.
He’s there, doing that.
But that was just a part of the goal. He first had to make it out of his region, which he did in earlier this year in the North East Region at Penn State.
But he wasn’t just going to be satisfied with making it to the showcase.
“I want to prove that I can hang with anybody,” he told On3.

He shined in the 2-hour throwing competition, being ranked by the camp as 5th out of the 20 attendees. The competition puts the signal-callers through a 3-day wringer of on-field drills, classroom
“This is the type of competition that Derek will excel in as he’s a visceral QB,” RealDawg.com’s lead scout Trevor Muller noted. “However, a lot of what is on display is arm talent, and ability to extend plays in a controlled atmosphere. He keeps his wits about him in and outside of the pocket but when plays breakdown turns into true dual-threat QB where he can tuck the ball and go.”
To Mueller’s point, Zammit, in addition to his 2,500 yards though the air he also had 600 rushing yards and 6 scores, and accounted for 42 total TDs.
“He makes great decisions with the ball in his hands with just 4 interceptions as a junior,” Muller noted.
Via 247Sports’ rankings he is rated near the bottom of the finalists but outperformed most who were rated ahead of him, moving from the 247’s Bottom 4 to the camp’s Top 5 with two days remaining.
