Four-Star Hawai’i DB Titus Mokiao-Atimalala: Nothin’ but the Truth

Titus Mokiao-Atimalala is a 6-1, 175 lb. two-way standout from Ewa Beach in Hawai’i. His offer from Washington came in last week and the Huskies are now in very serious contention…

“I was very excited”, Titus told Realdawg.com this week, “We’ve been talking for awhile and I was hoping to get that offer. It’s such a blessing.”

“Coach Harris and Coach Brown talked to me about where they want me on the field…I’ve been to Seattle before but I didn’t go see the campus, so I want to visit and my family and I are talking about setting that up.”

He also has some family in the Puget Sound Area, and knows some guys on the Huskies roster, “I know Tuitele and Miki Ah You”, Titus said, “They’ve been texting me and letting me know what it’s like there — also Zion.”

While Titus plays receiver and safety, he said he will play either at the next level — and with 19 offers he said that some schools are looking at him for offense as well.

But this kid is a serious bully in the secondary. His nickname? “The Truth”.

Last season he posted seven picks (three to the house) for James Campbell High School. He’s fast (4.48) and has the wingspan to fly over receivers and snatch the ball. He’s also a hard hitter and forced three fumbles last season.

“I love to hit”, he said.

Once he gets into a college weight room, with his speed, athleticism, and physical style of play, he could be a real thumper in the secondary.

So what’s he looking for in a school?

“I want to go where there’s a good business program because I want to be an entrepreneur”, Titus said, adding that a family-feel, and strong relationship with the coaches will also be important, but he said Washington is a school that checks a lot of boxes.

“I do feel more comfortable when I’m at a place where there’s some local boys”, he said about fellow players from Hawai’i on a schol’s roster.

Aside from Harris and Brown, Ikaika Malloe has played a big role in the recruitment of this young man up until now, “He’s real honest”, Titus said, “Talking to him is just like to talking to someone who’s local.”

As for now, this prospect is taking his time and doesn’t plan to rush into anything — he still has to get to the mainland to check out some schools, but is Washington in serious contention at this point?

“Yes they are”, Titus said, “They know how to win.”
