Former Washington Legend Hugh McElhenny Jr. Passes Away at the age of 93

Former Washington legend Hugh McElhenny Jr. has passed away at the age of 93.

McElhenny Jr. set 16 school records and still holds the single-game school rushing record with 296 yards against Washington State. Despite spending just two years at UW, McElhenny is considered by many as one of the best players to ever play in the purple and gold.

After Washington, the 6-foot-1, 195-pound halfback was selected No. 9 overall in the 1951 NFL Draft by the San Francisco 49ers. McElhenny Jr. would play 13 seasons in the NFL, earning five First-team All-Pro honors. McElhenny Jr. finished his NFL career with 11,375 total yards and 60 touchdowns.

Hugh McElhenny Jr. was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame and College Football Hall of Fame.
