In his return to Seattle, former University of Washington All-American linebacker Edefuan Ulofoshio may see extended time against the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday.
Listed second in the Bills’ depth chart at weakside linebacker behind Dorian Williams, he returns to the city where he became a Husky legend.
Williams, who is fourth in the NFL in tackles this season, injured his knee halfway through the fourth quarter against the Titans last week. He leaped over the line of scrimmage attempting to make a stop on a fourth-and-1 running play and didn’t return.
Today Bills head coach Sean McDermott did not mention Williams when discussing player absences which has led to speculation that he’ll participate in at least a limited capacity.
So far this season the 6-1, 239-pound rookie hasn’t accrued any regular season stats but in Buffalo’s final preseason game he had 7 total tackles
One of the most storied Washington players in recent memory, he’s accustomed to earning his spot.
Husky Nation has followed his improbable rise from being the 2,629th-rated player in the 2017 recruiting class to being a 5th-round draft pick in this year’s draft. A walk-on with 2 low-level offers who started and made 4 tackles and broke up a pass in the 2023 National Championship game.
In addition to being an All-Conference player and an All-American, in his 6 years on campus, he won post-season team awards: Guy Flaherty Most Inspirational Award, Tyee Sports Council Community Service Award, Iron Husky Award, Earle T. Glant Tough Husky Award, Husky Fever 12th Man of the Year Award, Mark Drennan Defensive Scout Squad MVP–all while studying to become a doctor.
He burst onto the scene against Oregon State in 2018 when on the first play of his career, he forced a fumble on a kickoff. He repeated that feat later in the same game. He participated in 3 games that year, utilizing a redshirt year.
“You gotta earn everything you get—gotta earn every…singe…thing…you…get,” the Bills rookie told RealDawg last season. “Nothing’s guaranteed. There’s always someone trying to take your spot.”
Now he’s the one trying to take someone else’s spot.
