Former USC Commit Feeling good about Husky Offer

The Huskies took the plunge today and offered Fresno (Edison) OLB, Veltray Jefferson. The 6-4, 225 lb. prospect had been committed to USC back during 2019, but now says he’s looking around.

“My eyes are open to every program”, Jefferson told Realdawg.com this afternoon, adding that the decommitment from USC came on the heels of the firing of their defensive staff.

“My dad called and basically I didn’t feel right about it.”

Jefferson is still keeping an eye on the Trojans, however, but with 12 offers now, he definitely has options.

Today he had a zoom meeting with Jimmy Lake and has already established a good relationship with Pete Kwiatkowski, “They told me why it took longer for them to offer”, he said, and understands that Washington puts a lot of energy and time into evaluating and getting to know a prospect before offering.

“I’ve never been to Seattle before”, he said, “I will visit though.”

On the field Jefferson is a freak of an athlete; he can play defense, offense, has huge upside and could play either side of the ball at the next level, “Some schools are recruiting me to play defense and others offense”, he said, “I’m an athlete.”

On film, the first thing that jumps out is just how physical Jefferson is; on defense he is quick off the edge and aggressive in his pursuit. He has the athletic ability to get around the tackle with his burst and length.

As for a decision, that’s completely up in the air at this point, “I was thinking about the Army All American game”, Jefferson said, “But if not then at the end of the season.”

As for now, Jefferson said the Husky offer is a big one, and said he is definitely interested in what the Huskies have to offer.

His nickname?

“Hollywood”…
