Stanley Daniels was a former four-star recruit that played offensive line for four years at the University of Washington. He started in 24 of the 36 games he played in during his time with the Huskies, before spending five seasons in the NFL.
Now, Daniels resides in Bellevue, Washington, and on Tuesday, he took a visit to his alma mater to visit with head coach Kalen DeBoer. He was accompanied by his former teammate and former Pittsburgh Steelers defensive lineman, Jordan Reffett, and I had a chance to speak with Daniels about their experience with the new coaching staff…
What were your biggest takeaways after meeting with the staff?
“The staff are all really qualified and highly competent, they are really passionate and excited to be here at UW and the culture they are building is a culture of family and a culture of winning.”
What were the primary things that Coach DeBoer asked you about? And what are some of the things he wants to improve in the program?
“Coach just took time to get to know me as a person. You can tell he genuinely cares about you when he speaks to you. I believe he intends to upgrade every part of the program.”
What were the primary concerns that you voiced, and what do you want to see improve in the program?
“I didn’t voice any concerns at all! He and his staff are here with a clean slate and they are all building the new chapter of the [Washington] Huskies. I will leave coaching to him and his staff.”
What kind of expectations do you have for the new staff going forward, both on the recruiting trail and on the field?
“I expect this staff to be a very smart, tough, well-prepared, hard working staff and that will reflect on the team. Every single staff member is a rockstar in their own right! Extremely qualified and seasoned. Recruiting has been really exciting so far! I believe that Coach DeBoer is all about doing things the right way! He will continue to bring in the best talent because of him and his staff and the amazing opportunity to play here for this staff!”
