Former Husky QB Haener Drafted by Saints in 4th Round

Former Washington Husky quarterback, Jake Haener was taken in the fourth round with the 127th pick overall in the 2023 NFL draft.

After Jake Browning left for the NFL,  Haener was the caught in a month-long QB battle with Jacob Eason in Fall Camp 2019 at Washington.

When Eason was named the starter Haener immediately decided to transfer, eventually playing for Kalen DeBoer at Fresno State.  There he sat out a season before playing a season under current Husky coach Kalen DeBoer.

In two seasons at FSU, over the last two seasons he passed for 53 touchdowns and only 12 interceptions.

After DeBoer was announced as Washington’s head coach following the 2021 season, Haener tried to follow DeBoer to Seattle before pulling back out of the Transfer Portal a short while later.

After this past season he was the MVP of the Senior Bowl.

To get the former Husky signal caller, the Saints sent the 227th overall pick in this year’s draft as well as a fourth-round pick in the 2024 draft.
