The Washington defensive backfield went from a strength to a work in progress, to put it politely. A new name surfaced when the Transfer Portal opened up: Thaddeus Dixon, a corner from Long Beach City College in California.
Officially listed at 6-2 and 205 Dixon will benefit from off-season workouts with Washington’s strength and conditioning coach Ron McKeefery. From his corner position he made 43 tackles and had 3 interceptions for LBCC.
His college football teammates nicknamed him “Boomin'” for his propensity for delivering a big hit.
“Usually they call me Thaddeus or Thad, but dudes from “The City” call me “Boomin’,” he Dixon said.
After just a few minutes of watching his film a new nickname may be in order: “Thud”. Dixon arrives with bad intentions and delivers a thud to receivers.
Dixon joins RealDawg.com’s lead scout Trevor Mueller to review some plays from his 2023 season at LBCC. It’s easy to see why he was targeted by Washington as a speedy corner with elite coverage skills.
Throughout this video Dixon and Mueller discuss his Dixon’s ability to be on the hip of any receiver throughout the route.
With some of the issues in coverage during the 2022 season, Dixon will elevate the room and bring some college experience and enthusiasm to a relatively young room.
He will enroll at the University of Washington January the 9th.
