EXCLUSIVE: Washington Receiver Odunze Talks Biletnikoff Award

Washington receivers Rome Odunze and Jalen McMillan both appear on the Biletnikoff award watchlist.  The duo accounted for nearly half of Michael Penix’s 4,641 yards and 18 of his 31 passing touchdowns.

Saturday RealDawg.com spoke with Odunze about the award, and he started off by saying that, “it’s team more than anything.”

Odunze does have winning the award as a written goal in his apartment, on a door and posted on a walk, but remains philosophical about the actuality of attaining the award.

”My mindset is that if I’m performing and I’m doing stuff in a manner that we’re winning games and we’re (the Washington Huskies) striding towards our goals, I feel like the personal success will come along with that,” he said.

He continues to put his teammates first with a unique perspective that’s uncommon in the world today.

“That’s in life, when you’re serving others, you find that a lot of success that you want to have personality comes to fruition,” he continued.

“I try to do live by that that.  The same way with me on the field with those team goals will come personal success, as well.”

Last season team and personal success went hand-in-hand as Odunze caught 75 passes for 1,145 yards and seven scores.  He also had a rushing TD in the Apple Cup.

He was an integral part of the Huskies 11-2 season that included an Alamo Bowl victory over the Texas Longhorns.
