Day 2 of Spring Football in the Books

ENVIRONMENT

-Practiced inside

-No music today

-Players seemed focused and ready to work early.

OBSERVATIONS

-Individual position drills first, defensive line and linebackers closest to media

-Joe Tryon stands out in every drill

-Tuli and Taimani look like a great DT duo coming off the bench, big and explosive.

-Mosiah Nasili-Liu still looks really quick with added weight.

-Team had great energy today and the competitive nature of the team was very evident. Defense looked excited to get pads on, multiple collisions in team where guys just looked ready to hit.

BIG PLAYS

-Jacob Eason to Bynum 60 yard td against Keith Taylor 1st play of 11 on 11

-Jacob Eason to Spiker 60 yard td against Taylor 40 yards in air

-Haener swing pass to Ahmed good cut upfield for 20 yards

-7 on 7 Yankoff 30 yard pass to Jordan Chin

-7 on 7 Molden tip drill interception for touchdown

-7 on 7 3 plays in a row: Jake Haener to Osborne td over Alex Cook. Haener to Otton for 25 yards, Haener to Kizer 25 yards

-Ahmed 50+ yard td run 1st play of 2nd team session

-Jacob Sirmon to Bynum 30 yards vertical over Kyler Gordon and Cam Williams

-Eason to Chico for 20+ yard

PLAYERS WHO STOOD OUT

-Jacob Eason showed flashes of why he was the #1 Qb in the country coming out of high school. First play of 11 on 11 he hits a long Td pass to Terrell Bynum 40 yards downfield. Then two plays later he throws another Td this one to Spiker on almost an identical throw.

-Terrell Bynum looks like he could make a huge step forward this year. He is fast and gets good separation from the DBs with nice route running. Besides the long touchdown catch he also had a couple 20 yard catches and looked good with the ball in his hands after a exhort crossing route.

-Elijah Molden continues to look great. He is fast, strong, and has the ability to play inside or outside. He is always around the ball. He had an interception for a touchdown in 7 on 7 and a few tipped passes in team.

PLAYERS TO WATCH FOR

-Spiker and Osbourne both had nice catches today and will have an opportunity to show what they can do as one of the outside receivers.

-Mosiah Nasili-Liu looked explosive even with added weight. Defensive tackle has become a deep position will be interesting how they get all these guys playing time.

WHO WON THE DAY?

Offense. Explosive plays won the day for the offense. I would say the defense looked good against the run and locked down receivers on a majority of the plays. However the offense was able to complete multiple passes for 20+ yards including 3 long TDs and Salvon Ahmed also had a long TD run.
