Courtney Morgan Named UW Football Director Of Player Personnel

Courtney Morgan, who spent the 2021 football season on the staff at Michigan, has been named the Huskies’ director of player personnel, Washington head coach Kalen DeBoer announced today.

Morgan spent the 2021 season in that same position with the Wolverines, where he played offensive line from 1999-2003, helping the team to a berth in the 2021 College Football Playoffs.

He also worked previously in the same capacity under DeBoer at Fresno State and at San Jose State in 2019. Additionally, he was director of player development at UCLA in 2013 and 2014, before spending several years in the sports business world prior to returning to college football. At Fresno State, he was named the No. 3 recruiter in the Mountain West Conference by 247Sports for the class of 2021 cycle.

“Courtney is an elite recruiter with a lot of strong, West Coast connections,” said DeBoer. “He’s been an integral part of building great recruiting classes everywhere he’s been. He has built his success on his dynamic personality. He builds strong relationships, and we’re very fortunate to be able to bring him to Washington.”

“I am excited to work with Coach DeBoer again,” Morgan said. “He has a track record of success and is always looking for new ideas. Husky Football is well respected, and I look forward to helping carry on that tradition.”

Morgan, who grew up in Los Angeles and attended Westchester High School, will oversee all aspects of recruiting and scouting operations for DeBoer and his staff.

Morgan’s experience in sports is diverse and impressive. After his time at UCLA, Morgan co-founded Pure Influence Group, where he connected professional athletes, businesses and entertainers with opportunities to increase brand awareness, community imprint and revenue.

Prior to starting his company, Morgan was Director of Client Development at Vanguard Sports Group for two years, overseeing a contract negotiations, marketing, public relations, endorsements, social media consulting, brand strategy, philanthropy, and management.

Morgan was a three-year letterman at Michigan, playing in 28 games and starting 11 in his five seasons. He played all five offensive line positions and was a member of two Big Ten championship teams (2000 and 2003). Morgan earned his degree in sports management and communications from Michigan in 2003.
