Coach Petersen Monday Video & Notes

Husky head coach, Chris Petersen appeared to be in a rather chipper mood this morning as he sat down to talk with the Husky media.

As the Huskies begin preparations for their trip to Pasadena this week, Petersen said that they have an idea of who they are about to face in this road game.

“They’re still puttings things together”, he said of the new version of the UCLA Bruins under Chip Kelly — and added that this will be the first time he, himself, has played at the Rose Bowl.

Speaking of which, the Huskies will be playing on grass, which Petersen prefers, but he said that it would be too much trouble to go out and try to find somewhere to practice on grass to prepare.

One thing that Petersen pointed out was how “amazed” he is by the physical 100% return of Chico McClatcher, but added that there’s still work to do and that McClatcher “will get there”.

He also talked about defensive lineman, Greg Gaines, citing that Gaines is very smart, and when he talks to him that sometimes his ears perk up because “He knows what he’s talking about.”

Coach commended the play of the offensive line, and said that this enabled Jake Browning to have such a good game — he also spoke highly of how the team has been practicing and gave props to the scout team for getting the team ready for BYU.
