Chris Petersen came to the mic this morning seemingly anxious to talk more about what they saw on film and how they intend to get their Husky team back on track.
First and foremost, Petersen addressed the “Jake situation”.
“We were not getting anything going on offense and just trying to create a spark”, he said of the decision to put Jake Haener in, explaining that they had already rotated everyone else on offense, “It’s good for other guys to get reps in live situations”.
Petersen also said that he never heard Browning asking “why” on the sidelines, and that Browning understands why he made the decision to put Haener in, saying that Browning is the “toughest guy in the room” and “he won’t go in the tank — he won’t back down”.
Coach Pete said the most important goal on Saturday was to move down the field and score touchdowns, and that it wasn’t all just about Browning by any stretch of the imagination.
Petersen said he has no word yet on Trey Adams returning — and Myles Gaskin is still a “day-to-day guy”.
