It’s hard to believe we’re only five days away from signing day, but despite the change in head coaches, Washington’s class is on track to finish at the top of the Pac-12, and in the Top 20 nationally.
This will weekend should secure those already committed who haven’t visited (officially) yet, and could even give the Huskies two more names added to the class roster.
First off, let’s review who’s visiting:
OL Geriean Hatchett (committed)
WR Rome Odunze (committed)
OL Samuel Peacock (committed)
TE Mason West (committed)
LS Jaden Green (committed)
OLB Sav’ell Smalls (committed)
OL Gaard Memmelaar (committed)
LB Carson Bruener (committed)
P Triston Brown (committed)
WR Sawyer Racanelli (committed)
Others who are committed who have visited before
RB Jay’Veon Sunday
WR Jalen McMillan
Uncommitted prospects:
DE Xavier Carlton
TE Jack Yary
There may be two more names of uncommitted guys to add to this list today, but I am trying to confirm both and will definitely keep you up to date if I get confirmation.
Additional information
** I have already hit on this topic before, but QB commit Ethan Garbers and TE commit Mark Redman are playing in the state championship this weekend and cannot get to Seattle. I know that Redman plans to sign in December and am still trying to find out if the same can be said for Garbers.
** Jacobe Covington will sign with Washington on December 18th, I have had this exclusive news for several weeks now and, unless something changes, I expect to see his name added to the Class of 2020 roster.
** The subject of Trae’Shon Harrison is a hot one right now; he entered the transfer portal yesterday and is leaving Florida State. His primary draw to FSU was Willie Taggert, who also had secured a commitment from Harrison when he was at Oregon. I don’t expect Harrison to follow Taggert again now that he is no longer the head coach at FSU, and Washington will likely give Harrison a look. I just don’t expect to see any movement on this until after signing day.
What are the odds?
I often get asked to give percentages on uncommitted guys visiting. So here’s where I see things at right now.
Jack Yary: Washington 50%
Yary has always liked Washington, despite the verbal he made to USC. Yary told me that he was not 100% sold on USC and that’s why he decommitted. Once Washington offered, I believe the game changed exponentially. At this point I say 50% simply because you can never second guess a kid wanting to stay in California. He wants to go somewhere where the tight ends actually are used on a regular basis. I do like Washington’s shot here.
Xavier Carlton: Washington 60%
I believe the educational factor at Washington could push them past Utah in the final stretch, but that’s just my opinion and I may be wrong. Despite his parent’s background with Utah, they really want their son to get the very best education he can, and that gives Washington an edge. Ikaika Malloe gets along famously with both parents, and Carlton has expressed in the past that he does want to do his own thing and make his own mark. The visit this weekend will be paramount.
