Cali OL, Jeffrey Persi Recaps Busy Day in Seattle

San Juan Capistrano, CA. offensive tackle, Jeffrey Persi finally made his unofficial trip to Washington over the weekend, and the Huskies didn’t fail to leave a marked impression.

“My visit to UW was Great”, the 6-7, 265 lb. product of J Serra Catholic High School, “(I) flew in very late Thursday evening and was at the campus by 7am on Friday morning for position meetings… I was tired”.

Persi was accompanied by both of his parents on the trip, and he not only was able to tour the facilities and see the campus, he sat in on meetings and had some one-to-one time with Scott Huff and Coach Petersen.

“During the meeting with OL I was able to really appreciate the style of teaching Coach Huff did during film and how the players interacted”, Persi added, “So cool to see positivity and humor during this and the players were all very involved. From there we went to practice and I got to see the upbeat pace and organization Coach Pete had for the boys – very impressive!”

Persi also had a chance to be around the current players and get a feel for how things are for a student-athlete at UW, “I had lunch with Trey Adams, Nick Harris, Luke Wattenberg, Ryan Bowman, Coach Huff and Collins Cameron in the players lounge”, he recounted, “They all spent time with me and helped me to understand life at UW”.

The football coaches weren’t the only guys that Persi had meetings with, however,, “I had meetings with  Coach Socha and his team, the training room staff, and an academics meeting with Kim Durand”, he said, “I toured the campus and a few buildings there. I saw the freshman dorms (Julius Buelow’s room)…ended the day sitting with Coach Peterson and having an awesome meeting, a photo shoot, another team position meeting and then a wrap up meeting with Coach Huff.”

That’s a lot to fit into one day, of course, but since Persi is so high on the Huskies’ wish-list in 2020 it was important to their efforts to make sure that no stone was left unturned for this out-of-state lineman. And it was a first for him.

“That was my first time in Washington and I’m sure glad it was this trip to UW. I can promise that I’ll definitely be back soon and I’m looking forward to it.”

Persi is a tough lineman with solid hand placement and footwork. He is a taller tackle, but he has a strong ability to bend and stay low.

As of right now, there’s no real timetable on when he will make a decision, but Washington definitely scored high points after this weekend and it sounds as if an official visit will be on tap.

Persi has already been to Cal, Nebraska, Stanford, USC, Northwestern, Michigan,Oklahoma,, and UCLA.
