The Huskies have gone into St. John Bosco before, and with the new staff, that pipeline is still very much alive for the Class of 2023.
One prospect, in particular, is linebacker Deven Bryant.
Right now, Bryant — who’s 6-0, 210 lbs. — holds offer from five schools: Washington, Oregon, Louisville, San Jose State, and Nevada, but this is only the beginning.
He was up in Seattle for Junior Day recently, and came away with a very favorable impression of Washington.
“The trip was amazing”, he said, “I toured the football facilities, and had an opportunity to see some parts of campus. It was cool to see the greatest setting in college football.”
William Inge and Courtney Morgan have been playing point for Bryant, “Coach Inge and I got along great when I was out for Junior Day”, he explained, “We are building a relationship and getting to know one another. I appreciated his candid conversation and motivating energy. He is definitely someone that I think I can learn from…both on the field and in life.”
Bryant’s family was also on the trip to Seattle, “They loved it! It was their first time in Seattle and they enjoyed speaking with the coaches and learning more about the University”, he said.
On the field, Bryant is definitely a guy to keep an eye on going forward; he’s got good sideline-to-sideline speed, and is a physical ball player.
He’s able to to read what the offense gives him and he’s able to get after the quarterback. His size and speed only compliment what he’s able to bring to the field physically, and he has a very high ceiling.
Last season for Bosco, Bryant recorded 90 tackles, four sacks, and three forced fumbles.
