Caleb Presley: Among the Elite

Caleb Presley: Among the Elite

One of the top ten corners in the country is right here in Washington’s own backyard this year. Rainier Beach’s Caleb Presley is ranked 8th in the country.

Presley, who’s 6-1, 180 and holds 27 offers to date, had his previous offer re-affirmed by the new staff at Washington this week, and talked to Realdawg.com about where the Huskies stand now that a new staff is in place.

“I have some hope for what Coach DeBoer is going to do”, he said, “After my conversation with Coach Juice, I think they have a real game plan for next season.”

He was just as surprised as anyone that the Huskies bottomed out during the 2021 season, “It was a struggle watching them”, Presley said, adding that this was not the Washington Football he was used to seeing.

Fortunately, the one home game he was able to attend was when the Huskies hosted Arkansas State.

He’s pretty certain he will be attending Junior Day, but what was really impressive to Presley was the conversation he had just had with Juice Brown.

“It was a great conversation”, Presley said, “He’s not talking to me like a used car salesman, he’s real and I look forward to building those relationships with the new coaches.”

Presley has already taken unofficial trips to Oregon, Utah, and Michigan State as well.

On the field, Presley is an electric corner whose play is so intimidating that offenses will not throw to his side.

He has a quick twitch, changes direction quickly.  He’s athletic and uses his size and closing speed on the long ball but also adjusts quickly to short, intermediate passes.

“I think I’m best man to man”, Presley said of his game, “I’ll get in a guy’s face and go toe to toe and shoulder to shoulder with him.”

Presley also has some big time hops with a 40-inch vertical leap.

This is an elite player who’s following in the footsteps of other elite defensive backs to come out of the Puget Sound area; Kyler Gordon is one, and he’s on his way to the NFL draft.

“I want to get to the next level — to the first round”, Presley said, I feel that I can achieve that and Coach Juice has a long resume.”

Relationships are going to matter a great deal down the stretch for this prospect; a place where feels at home, like family, and of course getting coached up to the next level.

Presley will definitely be keeping an eye on what the Huskies do now, “2022 is a new season”, he said.

But reiterating one more thing, Presley said “The real is always going to beat out the fake.”
