BREAKING: Washington Grabs 4-Star Elite Playmaker from SEC Territory

Norman, Oklahoma isn’t a traditional hotspot for Washington Huskies recruiting, but that’s the city where 4-star wide receiver Mason James calls home.

The 5-11, 180-pound pass catcher is the number 2 ranked players from the state of Oklahoma.  247 Sports also considers him to be one of the top-25 receivers in the nation.

The class of 2026 receiver has been immensely productive at Norman North High School where he averaged of 22 yards per reception and a touchdown every 3.3 reception in his junior campaign.  That season he had 56 receptions for 1,233 yards and 17 scores, earning national attention picking up offers from schools like Texas, Michigan, and Alabama.

He accumulated nearly 30 offers before announcing his Top 10 in February.  That list included Florida, Notre Dame, Ole Miss and Kentucky, before visiting visited Washington March the 10th.

Texas offered James the day before that announcement but didn’t make the cut.  However, the Longhorns made a late push for his services, landing in his final selection.

When all was said and done, the Huskies beat out James’ local school, the University of Oklahoma as well as Missouri, Texas, Arizona State and Kansas State to gain the commitment for the premier receiver.

He becomes the Huskies commit and one of the highest pledges for the 2026 recruiting class.
