The Kalen DeBoer-era at Washington has gotten off to a tremendous start as the Huskies finished 8th in the final AP Poll. The season began with somewhat modest expectations but any doubts were cast aside as UW jumped out to a 4-0 start at home.
A trip to Tempe, Arizona to take on the Sun Devils and to Southern California to take on the UCLA Bruins tempered expectations as the the Huskies fell in both contests by single scores. However, the Huskies finished the season on a 7-game winning streak.
Despite moving up 4 places since their 27-20 victory over the then #20 Texas in the Alamo Bowl, Washington finished as the lowest ranked 11-2 team behind Ohio State, Alabama, Tennessee, and Penn State. UW also finishes two spots above Pac-12 Champion Utah, while USC finished 12th; Oregon 15th; and Oregon State strangely winds up at 17th, and UCLA ended at 21.
The Texas Longhorns rounded out the final AP Poll at 25, giving the Huskies 3 victories over top 25 teams.
This is the highest ranking for UW since finishing 4th in the 2016 AP poll.
