As first reported by RealDawg five days ago, the Washington Huskies have hired Steve Belichick as its defensive coordinator.
While Bill Belichick won’t be coaching next season, but the Washington Huskies are welcoming the heir to the Belichick coaching throne.
Steve Belichick will be taking on a defensive coordinator with the Huskies. The younger Belichick had been coaching with the New England Patriots since 2012 as a defensive assistant and position coach.
It’s official 🤝

He was onboard for three Super Bowl wins and has been the defensive play caller for New England since 2019.
Belichick brings an incredible amount of top level experience to a UW team that is rebuilding it’s staff. He slots in perfectly for the Huskies as a new DC under Jedd Fisch and will bring an important level of expirience to the new system.
Belichick is also an NFL vet, and very connected, adding even more fuel to Jedd Fisch’s vision of running an NFL style program on Montlake. Adding Belichick with Brendan Carroll and Jedd Fisch makes the Huskies an oasis of coaching.
With Belichick added to the staff we see the vision of Fisch’s new world of Husky football coming together.
