The Washington Husky’s starting offensive left tackle Jaxson Kirkland will miss week one against Kent State Washington head coach Kalen DeBoer announced to the media after practice today.
“The NCAA did come back to us and they are going to keep him out…. I don’t want to use the word suspension because he didn’t do anything wrong,” DeBoer said on the reinstatement of the potential first round draft pick. “He will be ready to play week two.
Coach DeBoer said they did appeal but they did not win. The NCAA appeared to give little explanation why he will be held out.
Although the All-American candidate will be held out of the first game it could be a good thing for the senior star left tackle. Jaxson Kirkland will get another week to get fully healthy as their season gets more challenging.
On a more positive note MJ Ale who was carted off the field after suffering a leg injury earlier in practice this week is only expected to miss a few weeks. DeBoer expects the junior defensive lineman to be back for week one against Kent State.
In the video below DeBoer’s gives a full update on Kirkland and the status of defensive tackle Ulumoo Ale.
