Reigning Heisman-winner Caleb Williams of USC is the odds-on favorite. Penix finished the season as Power 5 conferences top passer with 357 passing yards a game. He also set a new Washington single season passing record with 4,641 passing yards, and single game passing total of 516 yard against Arizona, among other Washington records.
Penix will have help along the way with one of the top receiving duos Jalen McMillan and Rome Odunze, both of whom had over 1,000 yards receiving.
Although the dates have yet to be announced, Penix will face off against two other Heisman candidates, Williams at the Coliseum in Los Angeles and a home date against Oregon’s Bo Nix, who is also listed with a 12-1 Heisman odds.
Among Penix’s 2022 accolades he won the Associated Press’ Comeback Player of the Year and Pro Football Network’s 3rd team All-American.
