The Washington Women’s Basketball team is knocking on the door of the AP Top 25 rankings following its recent victory over then-No. 21 Washington State.
The Huskies received 25 total votes, more than any other unranked team, essentially putting them at No. 26.
Washington hasn’t sniffed the rankings since its 2016-17 season, which immediately followed its 2016 NCAA Tournament Final Four appearance with current 2-time WNBA Champion Kelsey Plum at the helm.
The team made solid progress last year during head coach Tina Langley’s second season, with a WNIT Fab 4 appearance to cap off a resurgent season. It looks like Langley is inching that much closer to turning the program around as UW heads into its 11th matchup of the 2023-24 season unscathed.
With a win on Saturday against St. Mary’s, the Huskies may finally find themselves in the Top 25.
