BREAKING: No. 2 Washington to Face No. 3 Texas in College Football Playoffs in Sugar Bowl

The Washington Huskies will be the home team and will travel 2,000 miles further than the Texas Longhorns to play in the College Football Playoff Semifinal in New Orleans.  No. 3 Texas beat No. 4 Alabama who will play Alabama in the Rose Bowl.

The committee’s job is to “get the 4 best teams”

The great debate came down to who should have been a number 1 and a number 4.  Washington had a tougher schedule than Michigan but the Wolverines dominated the inferior opponents, playing a 10-2 Iowa team that had trouble scoring on any given Saturday.

The final Pac-12 Conference Championship went to the Washington, as the Huskies punched their ticket to the College Football Playoffs.

  1. Michigan
  2. Washington
  3. Texas
  4. Alabama

Unbeaten Florida State got left out in favor of a 1-loss Alabama and a 1-loss Texas team.  The theory was that Florida State struggled without their starting QB.  The uncertainty of the Seminoles’ future without QB Jordan Travis paved the way for Alabama.

According to some, the strength of schedule doesn’t matter, only the final two games matter.  The Georgia Bulldogs fell all the way to 6 while Florida State fell a spot from 4 to 5.

The Sugar Bowl will kick off at 6:45 PM Monday January, 1 2024.
