Washington Huskies quarterback phenom Michael Penix has been snubbed by the Heisman Trophy selection committee. The finalists are Georgia QB Stetson Bennett, TCU QB Max Dugan, Ohio State QB, CJ Stroud and USC QB Caleb Williams.
Penix was saddled with game start times of 10:30 in the east. By the time he had dropped two perfects passes to Taj Davis and Ja’Lynn Polk against the Oregon Ducks most of the the eyes of the east were heading to bed.
A Manning Award finalist, Penix took over an offense that averaged just over 20 points in 2021 to nearly double. With Penix at the helm the Washington offense finished the regular season as the number 1 passing unit.
He has two top 15 Power 5 receivers in the country with Jalen McMillan and Rome Odunze going over 1,000 yards receiving each among Penix’s nation-leading 4,354 passing yards. He also averaged 362.8 yards a game, tops in the country.
Second in the country in total yards per game at 370 and third in the country with 362.5 completions per game. Three times Penix was named the Pac-12 player of the week. Led Washington from 4-8 to a 10-2 record.
