Scott Huff gets who he wants. And getting Parker Brailsford out of the top high school program in the state of Arizona is just another example of that. Brailsford has the chance to play either guard or center at Washington, and Huff will have the time to mold him into exactly what he wants.
Brailsford, who’s listed at 6’2, 265 pounds, is the perfect depth add for Huff’s group. With highly touted recruits like Geirean Hatchett, Myles Murao, and Troy Fautanu waiting in the wings along the interior of the offensive line, he won’t be asked to come in and contribute until at least year three on campus.
Physically, Brailsford has all the tools needed to be great. He’s got the athleticism, footwork, and raw strength to be the next in a long line of Huff products, and he’ll have all the time he needs with strength coach Tim Socha to put on healthy weight to play at the college level. It’s also a huge plus that he knows how to play center. Transitions for players like Murao and Hatchett can be tough, since center requires a lot both physically and mentally.
It looks like the Saguaro product is up for that challenge though, as his film shows a proficient pass blocker, who can get to the second level with ease and has quite a mean streak in the run game. His feet allow for him to pull very well from the middle of the line, and he’s athletic enough to be a great pulling blocker. With offers from USC, Michigan State, Kansas State, and others, Huff clearly isn’t the only coach who sees potential in him.
Much like Samuel Peacock in the 2020 class, this is a high upside take. Brailsford has all the time he needs to get his body ready for college, and in all likelihood he’s going to put on 15-20 pounds within his first year on campus. As he begins to take reps against the best defensive line in the Pac-12 in practice, he has all the potential in the world to become an All Pac-12 player.
