Boston Pops: Pro Football Focus Puts Washington Receiver in 1st Round in Draft

With the 30th pick in the NFL Draft the Pittsburg Steelers select Denzel Boston are the words that Pro Football Focus is projecting in its initial mock 2026 NFL Draft.  If the selection holds true, and it most likely won’t given the trades that will shape the selection order, changing each team’s needs, Boston would join former Husky players Troy Fautanu and

PFF says that he “has lived up to the billing”, but that wasn’t the case coming out of high school until he caught the eye of the Husky staff in 2021 at Washington’s Rising Stars camp.  After dominating in every aspect the Emerald Ridge capped off the afternoon with a juggling, toe-tap reception to end the camp.

The Washington coaches had seen enough and offered him a scholarship opportunity.  Even still, he was rated just the 71st best receiver by ESPN while 247 Sports had him at 146th in the nation and 17th in the Evergreen State.  Now PFF has him as the 2nd receiver taken in next year’s draft.

30. Pittsburgh Steelers (4-1): WR Denzel Boston, Washington

Boston has lived up to the billing as one of the best “big” receivers in the class. He’s earned an 82.9 receiving grade this year, hauling in five of his contested catch opportunities. However, he’s more than just his size and contested-catch ability. Washington has lined him up in the slot on 50 snaps already this season, thanks to his ability to win vertically from that alignment. At 6-foot-4 and 210 pounds, he is a “big” receiver but don’t simply put him in that box.

Not bad for a kid who puked out his guts after scoring his first touchdown at Husky Stadium on a 2-yard run as a freshman.
