10. Washington Husky QB Michael Penix passed for a school record 518 yards completing 82-percent of his passes, averaging 14.3 yards per completion. Given the high yards-per-completion rate one can expect that the Husky offense wasn’t faced with a whole lot of third downs, going 6-10 on third down. Of those six conversions Penix was a perfect 5-5 for 54 yards.
9. “Hucked it” is the best way to describe Penix’s 48-yard strike to Rome Odunze who was standing alone at the Washington 2 yard line. With a 35-24 lead and the ball on the Washington 48 yard line somehow Odunze got behind the Wildcat defensive backs for the 8th time and the second 45-yard-plus TD connection of the 3rd quarter. In all Penix was targeted Odunze eleven times completing 9 of them.

8. Only eight of Penix’s passes hit the ground. His record-breaking stat line looks like this
–Passing: 36-44 for 516 yards, 4 TDs
–Rushing: 3 carries for 13 yards and 1 TD
7. One might look at the Washington rushing stats and see an ineffective ground game, with 79 rushing yards on 29 carries. However, Penix went 7 for 7 on passes to running backs two Wayne Tualapapa and Sam Adam, for 56 yards and Adams’ first touchdown as a Husky.
6. Washington receiver Jalen McMillan got the Huskies on the board first with a 23-yard pass from Penix. After that, he had one of the quietest near-100 yard games, pulling down six Penix passes for 77 yards and the touchdown. That gives the Husky backfield 157 yards and three TDs.
5. With his willingness to do whatever it takes to advance the ball, former Washington walk-on, tight end Jack Westover is very quietly becoming a his own highlight reel. For the second time this season he’s taken flight on a Michael Penix pass, hurdling over a defender. He and his QB connected on all 5 targets for 49 yards.
4. As noted above for Odunze’s big day including the Las Vegas pass-catcher’s circus-catch TD he had two total touchdowns to go with his 169 receiving yards. So far this season through four conference games he has 561 yards and 5 touchdowns, including 4 consecutive games with 115 yards or more–or 140 yards a game.
3. Washington receiver Ja’Lynn Polk was the hot hand early in the game, leading the Huskies with 95 receiving yards on 4 catches. However, three other targets were negated by penalties, including two free plays for the UW offense where Penix tried to connect with Polk. In the first quarter Polk did the most damage of the Husky’s 3-headed receiving monster pulling down 3 passes for 80 yards.
2. Despite going 6-10 on third down the Huskies went 0-2 on 4th down.
1. The Washington offense had 14 explosive plays including three plays of 45 yards or more two of which were Penix-to-Odunze hookups. The ground game was a different story with one explosive play with one play over 10 yards, a Cam Davis 19-yard touchdown with 5:30 remaining in the contest.

0. The last time that Arizona QB Jayden De Laura was in Seattle he planted a flag on the Husky Stadium turf. The former Cougar signal-caller was sacked four times Saturday afternoon. In contrast, despite the struggles in the run game, Penix had all day to pick apart the Wildcat defense. The offensive line that wasn’t able to open many holes for the running backs gave up zero sacks on the Husky QB.
