Gilbert, AZ (Williams Field) offensive tackle, Noah Nelson was offered by Washington back in the late spring, and he even took an unofficial up to Seattle when the Huskies hosted ASU. Are the Huskies in serious contention?
“It was a real cool experience up there”, Nelson, who’s 6-8, 290 and plays left tackle told Realdawg.com this week, “The OL’s they’re getting are real athletic.”
Two years ago Washington went into Arizona and reeled in Matteo Mele — and aside from the OL side of things, they’ve had huge success recruiting the Grand Canyon state since Chris Petersen has been at Washington.
Now, Nelson is a guy who appears to be high on the board for 2020.
“Coach Huff is a real great guy”, Nelson said, adding that his mother also enjoyed the time in Seattle, “She thought it would be a real good opportunity for me.”
The Nelson family is no stranger to the college football scene; his father Byron played for Arizona back in the mid 80’s before going on to the NFL, and now the Wildcats may be in better shape (than others) to land this tough tackle.
“That does give Arizona a slight edge”, Nelson said, “It would be cool to start building a legacy”, but he also insists that he’s still very open now and will go through the process.
The scouting report on Nelson is that he has a 80-inch wing-span and his specialty is pass-blocking. His run-blocking is solid too but college coaches love to see that skillset in high school players.
Nelson has quick feet and he’s a very smart player. Right now his team is 7-1 and on track to a league championship this season.
