Over the weekend we spoke with Moorehead, Minnesota defensive lineman, Elinneus Davis. The 6-3, 296 lb. prospect currently holds five offers, and the Huskies are one of them.
Washington likes Davis as nose tackle, and Inoke Breckterfield is leading the charge.
“He’s an awesome guy, I love him”, Davis said of the new Husky DL coach, adding that he’s aware of the impact Breckterfield’s coaching has had on Aaron Donald, “He told me…along with other guys that are in the NFL — which is awesome.”
On the field, Davis is very versatile. He’s good with his hands and very astute at controlling his gap. He has strong lateral range and a real quick first step. It’s that combination of speed and athleticism that makes him a legit Power 5 prospect.
“I block everything else out and focus on my match up and who I am going against”, Davis said of his game.
Washington would like to get Davis out West for a visit, but Minnesota is a fur piece away from Seattle — would Davis take a trip?
“(Coach Breckterfield) said I could come for a spring visit or sometime in the summer”, Davis said, “I’ve never been in the West but it would be awesome to visit that area…it would be awesome to experience the life out there.”
At the end of the day, no place is too far for Davis if it has all of what he is looking for, “The relationship with the staff and how I can develop as a player to move on to the next level.”
