2023 Cali Linebacker Taking Serious Look at Washington

With all the recent articles about offers going out, one name on the Husky staff we haven’t heard yet is that of William Inge, but it’s this coach who is spear-heading the recruiting effort for Manteca, CA. ILB, Blake Nichelson.

Inge was hired to coach the linebackers and co-coordinate the defense, and if you wonder what kind of recruiter he is? Just ask Nichelson.

“He offered me when he was at Fresno”, the 6-3, 210 lb. prospect told Realdawg.com this week, “He was actually the first to offer me. So in some ways we have a deeper connection.”

He still holds the Fresno State offer, but received his offer from Washington on Wednesday, “It’s a good offer”, Nichelson said, “Washington is definitely one of the top schools I’m looking into.”

Kalen DeBoer was on the line Wednesday to talk about Nichelson and the offer from the Huskies, “I’m talking to my parents tonight about going to Junior Day…I’m pretty sure we’ll go.”

Nichelson has a high ceiling. He’s explosive and has good sideline to sideline speed. A bit underrated, Nichelson has been playing off the edge in high school and will maul the quarterback if he gets the chance. He hits hard, reads offenses well, and has all the intangibles to rise up at the collegiate level.

“I put 100% effort into every play”, he said of his game.

And getting better is the goal as he begins to get close to a decision, “Overall, I want to go where they will get me better; to the next level”, he said, “It’s about development and the relationship with the coaches.”

Offers to date include Washington, Fresno State, Arizona, Boston College, and Oregon State.

He is a recent invite to the Polynesian Bowl.
