2023 Alabama 4-Star DE Planning Visit to Washington

The Huskies have continued to cast a wider net under Kalen DeBoer’s staff, and Trussville, Alabama isn’t so far away when it comes to recruiting elite talent.

Last week Washington offered 4-star DE, Hunter Osborne; a 6-4, 255 athlete who is already holding 39 offers.

“He’s been recruiting me since he was at Michigan”, Osborne said of Courtney Morgan, “I was going into my junior year.”

Osborne said he is “very grateful and honored” for the Husky offer, as well as all of his offers to date, and even though he hasn’t yet spoken to the new Husky DL coach, Inoke Breckterfield since he’s been at Washington, the two already are well acquainted, “We have a close connection”, Osborne said, noting that Breckterfield had been recruiting him while he was Vandy.

Without listing all 39 offers, we can list the Pac-12 offers: Washington, Stanford, USC, and Oregon.

And while Osborne hasn’t been to the Pacific Northwest, he has been to California — Morgan has been talking to Osborne about getting to Seattle, “He talked to me about coming up this month, but that’s going to be hard because of school. I want to try in the spring or summer…more like summer because I will have more time.

The scouting report on Osborne is that he is a menace of a defensive end/edge-rusher and loves to get after the quarterback, “I’ve got to take it” he laughed when talking about getting a blind side shot at the passer.

Last season at Hewitt-Trussville High School Osborne amassed 74 tackles, 15 for loss, 5.5 sacks, 16 QB hurries, and nine pass deflections.

Osborne has extremely advanced burst, explosion and fast twitch, and he’s a very cerebral athlete with a 4.1 GPA and a desire to major in Sports Medicine.

“I want to try to make a decision before the season…before the first game of the season”, he said.

And when asked about what the most important factors will go into his decision, Osborne said “Academics and football development, a place where they can get me to the next level.”

It’s a long way to go for this athlete, and Washington was wise to plant their flag right now. The one school who hasn’t offered yet is Alabama, “I don’t know why”, Osborne said, “I don’t know what they’re waiting for.”

He did attend the Auburn game on Monday; the Tigers have offered. But leaving the South is a strong possibility for Osborne.

We’ll continue to follow Osborne’s progress going forward, and if he sets up that trip to Washington.
