2021 Offensive Lineman Very Excited about New Offer from Huskies

Before Saturday night turned in to a remake of “The Crazies”, the Huskies did host a few local guys both from the 2020 class and the 2021 class. One local lineman went home with an offer.

“It’s an exciting offer”, O’Dea offensive lineman, Owen Prentice told Realdawg.com over the weekend, “I went for the game with my parents, and Coach Huff talked to me and then said he was going to grab Coach Petersen and that he wanted to talk to me and my parents in his office. I wasn’t sure if they would offer because it was gameday and all that, but I’m very excited about it.”

Prentice is no stranger to the scene around UW; he’s been to the Dirt Dawg camp before, and he’s also attended other games.

The coaches have been keeping their eye on him since he began emerging last season as a sophomore; at 6-3,285 he’s a solid blocker who has strong flexibility and versatility in regards to where he can play on the line. But guard is his strong suit, and he’s a guy who could be a solid center at the next level.

Prentice has good balance and strong lower body strength — but he’s also very physical due to his years of playing Rugby.

“I played since I was five”, Prentice said, “I didn’t start playing football until the fourth grade, but my sister plays Rugby and my brother plays, both at the college level (they are both at Harvard), my uncles, cousins, the whole family plays.

“One thing about Rugby is that you have to be so versatile because you’re moving the whole time. You can’t just be some fat guy standing around out there.”

Right now Washington isn’t alone in their offer; Prentice has offers from Oregon State, Cal, and USC also.

“I’m just feeling it all out right now”, Prentice said of his recruitment, “I know Washington is definitely up there and I hope to get back for an unofficial visit.”

Prentice is an extremely bright young man who is entertaining the possibility of majoring in Evolutionary Biology and Psychology.

Last weekend O’Dea defeated Peninsula to open their season by a score of 21-6, and this week they take Bethel on the road.
