Washington QB Commit Earns Camp MVP, Talks UW Visit, Helping Coaches Recruit

Not long after committing to Washington, Mater Dei Catholic High School quarterback Ashton “Dash” Beierly told RealDawg that he would be working at recruiting his 2024 class at Washington.

An early target was 4-star receiver Raiden Vines-Bright from Corona Del Sol High School.

“(I’m) already in his ear”, he said at the time.

The persistence paid off with the speedster pledging to Washington’s new staff.

Saturday he had a “really good” visit to Washington’s scrimmage scrimmage before hitting the Under Armour Camp

“(It) was fun to chop it up with the QB’s and talked a lot of ball with the coaches which I love to do,” he recalled.

Dash was also able to lightly pick the brain of the SEC’s all-time passing leader and Washington’s odds-on favorite to be named the starting QB for the upcoming season.

“That was my first time meeting Will,” he said.  “We spoke for a bit but I didn’t want to distract him.”

He chose to be a student of the game approach by observing and studying.

“I was really just learning by watching,” he said.  “I was seeing how they approach the college game.”

He also got to experience some of the new technology for college football this coming season where a player will have an earpiece to hear from the coaches.

“I got to listen to a couple of drives and play calls,” he said.

The competitive nature of Washington’s practice Beierly found to be very attractive, as well.

“Everybody gets a chance to compete,” he said.  “Plus they do good on good which is how you get better.  They just like to complete and they compete every period.”

Off the field he felt a tighter bond with the Husky coaches and players.

“(Before my visit our relationship) has been great.  They have really done a good job recruiting me,” he said.

However, experiencing everything first hand Dash had an unbelievable experience.  “But now it’s different. Now it’s even more personal. They know me, my parents and my younger sister.”

His sister Keira, who goes by the nickname Keke, is a softball star for the class of 2026 at Chaparral High School.

“She will play college softball and they support her like they do me.   Just a real good fam vibe,” he said.

His next move this weekend was to head down to the Under Armour Next Camp Seattle where he was named QB MVP.

He was also helping to recruit several other Washington targets at the camp, including a couple of local stars, 4-star linebacker Zaydrius Rainey-Sale and 3-star tight end T’Andre Waverly

Another one of the players whose ear he will be in is 4-star linebacker Mark Iheanachor from Narbonne High School in Harbor City, California.
